Wildman Days

Back when we were silly teenagers, there was not much of anything to do in our little water tower town. Seriously, no movie theaters or malls, or coffee shops or anything. We would “cruise” in our cars and come up with ridiculous ways to entertain ourselves. One such activity was to drive out to the end of a certain country road named for a famous college mascot to look for “Howdy”, a green eyed monster that only came out after dark. Of course it did. We knew it was all a ploy for the boys to scare the girls or just get some alone time in the dark, but we would always play along, laughing the whole time. Where the legend of “Howdy” (just one of the names used) started, we have no clue, but there just seemed to always be something about that area called Panther Rock. As we found out about 30 years later, our totally made up monster may be based on some very real folklore of the area. In 2018, local boy Jeff Waldridge along with his partners Jennifer and Lee Kirkland, founded the Wildman Days festival to celebrate all things big-footed and hairy. Turns out, our home town, Anderson County, has the most reported sightings of Bigfoot in the state. What??? Totally random and unexpected fact, but it lead to a pretty fun couple of days downtown last year.

This weekend (May 31st to June 2nd) is the second year of The Wildman Days in downtown Lawrenceburg, Kentucky’s only Bigfoot Street Festival. While the event is chock full of info for the believers amongst us, it’s also just a heck of a lot of fun. There are food trucks, local wine, craft beer, rides, vendors, silly contests like Hairiest Man and did I mention the food trucks? You can find us at the Bite Me! Gourmet Corndog truck at least twice this weekend… OK, maybe 3 times. Seriously y’all, this is a festival you will want to see to BELIEVE. (see what we did there)

When you need a break from the heat, head on in to Sweet Mash for some AC, SALES and moonshine sampling. Jephta Creed distillery will also be in house on Saturday from 12pm - 3pm for a Moonshine and Bourbon tasting. We are bringing back our 25% Off YETI products sale for this event. We are also adding a sale on all Men’s grooming products to keep your Squatch looking and smelling good with Kentucky Proud Birdhat Beard Oil, Mustache Combs, Bourbon Soaps and Manscapiing Kits. Just in time for Father’s Day!

Below are the links you need to plan your Wildman weekend and remember, whether you are a squatcher or a sceptic, the most important thing is that you believe in yourself.
