The entire world knows that if you want the best Bourbon, you go to Kentucky. What you may not be as familiar with is the other deliciously spirited industry in Kentucky: WINE! In fact, at one point in the late 1800s, prior to the evils of Prohibition, Kentucky was the third largest state producer of grapes and wine. The first commercial winery in the U.S. was actually located in Jessamine County, Kentucky and opened in 1799. Crazy, right? Well, if you are an aficio-wino, it may be time to get to know your local Kentucky wines.
Right down the road from Sweet Mash are two kick-ass Kentucky Wineries, Rising Sons and Lover’s Leap. Both are local, family owned and produce a variety of tasty wines. Come to Lawrenceburg, Kentucky for a tour and sampling at both locations then stop by Sweet Mash for a little wine-drunk shopping. Info on each vineyard can be found at the links below:
For us, Valentine’s Day is all about the reds. We recommend Cataldo’s Salute from Rising Sons and Win, Place, Show from Lover’s Leap. Pair either with a box of bourbon balls and a shiny new piece of Kendra Scott jewelry for the guaranteed win on Thursday. All are available at Sweet Mash and we will even wrap it for you for free. We specialize in making you look good.
Sweet Mash can’t forget all our Independent Queens out there. We have the best selection of snarky wine glasses and comical bath bombs to pair with a bottle of vino (or Bourbon) for all the besties on your Galentine’s shopping list. Or, just buy them for your dang self. In the wise words of Beyonce, “I can be bad if I want, I can do wrong if I want, I can live fast if I want…. I’m a GROWN WOMAN!”
P.S - The store is open late on Thursday, 2/14, to help you with any last minute shopping. Call us and we can even have something ready for you to pick up! (502) 604-6020. Cheers!!
